A Malaysia Flying Doctors helicopter crashed near Long Lellang in northern Sarawak on 8 September. The aircraft was an MBB Bo 105 on a health run from Miri. Five people were onboard. Nobody walked away.
Miri Resident Galong Luang later confirmed all five dead, citing the fire and rescue department and the health ministry. Identities had not been released when this file closed. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said the four passengers were ministry personnel on official duty: a medical officer, a medical assistant and two nurses, plus the pilot.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said it was notified at 3:58 p.m. local time. Registration reported in early wires: 9M-LLF. The Air Accident Investigation Bureau takes the wreck. Cause is not in this Extra.
Long Lellang’s short strip serves Kelabit and Penan country about 310 kilometres from Miri. The Flying Doctor Service exists because the road does not. That is why the aircraft was in the air.
