MARKETS DESK — Two of the most-watched corporate bitcoin treasuries filed overlapping weekly updates that tell opposite capital stories. Strive disclosed a fresh multi-day bitcoin purchase. Strategy reported a week with zero bitcoin bought or sold and cash directed at preferred-stock repurchases instead. This Extra is a filing-and-disclosure piece, not a tip sheet. Nothing here is investment advice. No spot targets. No buy or sell calls. No invented bitcoin prices beyond attributed averages from the named disclosures.

According to Strive’s Form 8-K as summarized in named market wraps, the company purchased 1,375 bitcoin between 31 August and 4 September 2026. The disclosed average cost was about $79,281 per coin, inclusive of fees and expenses in wraps that track the 8-K, for a total outlay of roughly $109 million. Holdings after the purchase: 24,531 BTC, up from 23,156 BTC as of the prior week’s reported mark in those same wraps. That treasury figure is what the company disclosed for the end of the purchase window — not a live mark-to-market invented by this desk.

CEO Matt Cole, in a public social-media statement widely attributed in the same wraps, said roughly 70 percent of the capital raised in the week came from SATA — Strive’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock — and that SATA’s notional outstanding stood near $999 million. Cole’s own framing was that the preferred stack was approaching a billion-dollar notional wall. Desk rule: that is Cole’s claim about funding mix and SATA size, attributed to him. It is not an Extra forecast of future issuance. No live BTC spot is invented here.

Strategy’s overlapping weekly disclosure, as carried in named wraps of the company’s update, said the firm bought or sold zero bitcoin in the week ending around 7 September, leaving holdings unchanged at 845,050 BTC. Instead of accumulating coins, Strategy reported repurchasing preferred STRC stock: about 1.81 million STRC shares for roughly $176.3 million. The company also doubled its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program authorization from $1 billion to $2 billion, with wraps noting remaining headroom under the expanded authorization after the week’s buybacks.

The Extra angle is structural, not speculative. Public bitcoin-treasury companies can grow coin balances, pause, or redirect cash into preferred-stock plumbing. In this update cycle, Strive’s 8-K shows continued BTC accumulation funded in large part — per Cole — by preferred issuance. Strategy’s update shows a pause on BTC and an expanded STRC repurchase posture. Readers who follow both tickers already know the rivalry narrative. The Extra does not amplify it into a horse-race prediction. It prints the disclosed quantities, the disclosed average purchase price for Strive, and the disclosed zero-BTC and STRC-buyback week for Strategy — then stops.

What this piece does not do: no investment advice, no allocation suggestions, no price targets for BTC, ASST, MSTR, SATA, or STRC. No invented spot unless a named source print is attributed; default is omit. No claim that Strategy “abandoned” bitcoin — only that the disclosed week showed zero BTC activity and STRC repurchases. The separate Liquid hack Extra stays linked only as a related money rail; it is not rehashed here.
