Special Operations Forces Deep Strike units, as wrapped by Defense Express on 10 September 2026 and matched by the Kyiv Independent, say drones struck the Novy Urengoy Gas Condensate Treatment / Processing Plant and the Purovsky Gas Condensate Processing Plant in Yamalo-Nenets. SOF messaging: more than 3,000 kilometers; a zone treated as a safe rear; plants crucial to the gas-condensate industry. Novy Urengoy design capacity cited: about 19.5 million tonnes of feedstock a year. Purovsky, per Defense Express: 13.4 million tonnes of gas condensate processed in 2025. Fire Point, named in Kyiv Independent and Straits Times wraps as the FP-1 producer, said its drones covered more than 3,300 kilometers and successfully hit a target in Novy Urengoy. Russian governor — Artyukhov damage ATTRIB. Dmitry Artyukhov said on Telegram — as carried by Reuters, Straits Times / AFP, and matching Ukrainian wraps — that a drone attack on an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy was “repelled,” that falling UAV debris caused a fire, that emergency services were on scene, that there were no deaths or injuries, and that the extent and nature of the damage were being determined. He did not name the plant on the governor line Extra locks here. Ukrainian SOF names Novy Urengoy and Purovsky; the governor confirms attack, fire, and zero casualties without matching plant IDs. Why Yamal, why ~3,000 km. Novy Urengoy sits just south of the Arctic Circle and is widely called Russia’s gas capital.
