What Warsaw put on X and into the wires. ABC News (David Brennan, 10 September 2026) and European Pravda / Caliber wraps of the Operational Command’s posts say the command conducted “a short-term elevation of readiness of selected forces and assets” because of Russian jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle activity over western Ukraine. The aim, the command said, was to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, “particularly in areas adjacent to those affected by Russian strikes.” A follow-on post kept military aviation, ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance in an appropriate readiness state as further potential threats appeared; the package then wound down after roughly two hours. Extra attributes the timeline to the command via those wraps.

The actions were of a preventive nature and were aimed at ensuring the safety of Polish airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to those affected by Russian strikes.

Ukraine’s overnight drone ledger — separate attribution. Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 149 drones overnight — a mix of Shahed strike drones (around half of them jet-powered in the ABC wrap) plus Gerbera and Parody decoys. Ukrainian defences downed 128, with impacts reported across 13 locations. That is Ukraine’s figure for Ukrainian airspace. Extra does not merge it into a Polish kill-board. It does not invent which oblast took which impact beyond what named wires printed.

Russian ministry lines, for the other ledger. ABC summarised Russia’s Defence Ministry saying Mykolaiv and Chornomorsk were among overnight targets and that two dry-cargo ships heading for Odesa were also struck in the ministry’s account; Moscow also claimed hundreds of Ukrainian drones intercepted over Russian regions and adjacent seas. Eastern Poland airspace restrictions — calendar context, not the scramble. Separately, Polish aviation notices and Armed Forces material describe a temporary restricted zone EP R134 along the eastern border from 10 September to 9 December 2026 (replacing EP R131), up to roughly FL95 / ~3 km, with the strictest night rules, meant to give air-defence systems freedom of action while commercial traffic at higher altitudes continues. Extra treats EP R134 as standing readiness architecture dated 10 September, not as proof that a Russian drone crossed into Poland overnight on this file.
