Human rights organisations and independent U.N. experts, cited in those wraps, call the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific boat-strike campaign unlawful extrajudicial killing. What SOUTHCOM put on the record. Under the direction of U.S. Southern Command, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere “executed a lethal kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean,” the release said. It cited “confirmed intelligence” that the vessel was actively involved in narco-trafficking and said the operation killed three people the command labelled narco-terrorists. SOUTHCOM did not, in the public text Reuters and UPI summarised, publish the vessel’s name, flag, departure point, destination, or forensic proof of the cargo. Campaign clock, attributed carefully.
